Unvented Attics

Unvented Attics (UVAs) is a term used to describe single-family home attics that are sealed in order to reduce temperatures and improve the performance of attic HVAC systems and ducts. For the WISE program, this technique may provide a pathway for meeting future Title 24 energy efficiency requirements. They may also provide an additional benefit to builders of smaller HVAC systems and a simpler attic design. As these systems are developed and tested in the California market, more information will be made available here. For now, several resources are available that explain in greater detail the design, capabilities and considerations of UVAs.
